Dangerous Strollers Take Fingers
When you are strolling along, enjoying the day with your child in your Simplicity/Graco stroller, the last thing you want to think about is whether or not your Simplicity/Graco stroller will injure or even cut off your child’s finger. Now, with your child strapped in and seemingly safe, you may have to watch out for a forthcoming injury.

On January 20, 2010, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of about 1.5 million Simplicity strollers, due to some defective hinges that can amputate children’s fingers. The affected Simplicity stroller models are: Graco’s Passage™, Alano™ and Spree™ Strollers and Travel. The recall was prompted by reports of five children having fingertips amputated by the canopy hinges. Two other children received cuts on their fingertips.

This recall comes only a few months after a similar recall of Maclaren strollers because of faulty hinge mechanisms causing amputations of children’s fingers. In November 2009, the CPSC recalled around 1 million strollers after receiving twelve reports of finger amputations.
